Frequently Asked Questions

Everything parents need to know about Qmon

Getting Started

What ages is Qmon designed for?
Qmon is designed for children ages 5 to 18. The app covers math topics from basic counting and number recognition for kindergarteners all the way through algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus for high schoolers. When your child first opens Qmon, a short placement test determines their starting level so the content is always age-appropriate and challenging.
How does the 7-day free trial work?
When you subscribe to Qmon, you get a full 7-day free trial with complete access to every feature including all 168 math topics, the parent dashboard, Archie the AI tutor, and unlimited practice sessions. You will not be charged until the trial period ends. You can cancel anytime during the trial through your Apple ID subscription settings and you will not be billed.
Does my child need their own Apple ID?
No, your child does not need their own Apple ID. Qmon supports linked student profiles under an optional parent account. Each student gets their own learner profile with separate progress tracking, XP, achievements, and placement level. You manage everything from one parent dashboard using family codes to link students to your account.
What devices does Qmon work on?
Qmon is built as a native iPad app and is optimized for the iPad experience, including full Apple Pencil support for showing work on the built-in canvas. The app takes advantage of the iPad's larger screen to display math problems, visual aids, and Archie's guided explanations side by side. Core learning progress is stored on-device, while account setup, purchases, parent linking, and sync features require an internet connection.
Can I use Qmon on iPhone or Android?
Qmon is currently available exclusively on iPad. The app was purpose-built for the iPad's larger screen and Apple Pencil support, which allows children to show their work naturally on the built-in canvas. We chose to focus on iPad first to deliver the best possible learning experience. Stay tuned to our website at qmon.app for announcements about future platform availability.
How do I set up a parent account?
Setting up a parent account takes less than a minute. Download Qmon from the App Store, open the app, and choose the parent sign-up option. You can create an account using your email address or sign in with Apple for one-tap setup. Once your parent account is created, you will receive a unique family code that you can use to link your children's learner profiles to your dashboard.

Learning & Curriculum

What math topics does Qmon cover?
Qmon covers 168 math topics spanning the full K-12 math curriculum. Topics start with counting, number recognition, and basic addition for younger learners, then progress through multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, ratios, and percentages. For older students, Qmon covers pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. Each topic includes structured lessons, guided practice problems, and mastery assessments.
How does Qmon decide what my child should learn next?
Qmon uses an adaptive mastery-based progression system. When your child first starts, a placement test identifies their current skill level across different math domains. From there, the app's adaptive engine tracks accuracy, speed, and consistency to determine when a topic has been mastered. Your child must demonstrate true understanding before unlocking the next topic, ensuring there are no gaps in their knowledge.
What is the Learn, Practice, Master method?
Every topic in Qmon follows a three-phase approach. In the Learn phase, Archie the owl tutor introduces the concept with clear explanations and visual aids. In the Guided Practice phase, your child works through problems with real-time hints and step-by-step support from Archie. In the Master phase, your child completes an assessment independently to prove mastery before moving on. This structured approach builds deep understanding, not just memorization.
Who writes the lessons?
Qmon's curriculum is developed by experienced math educators and curriculum specialists. Every lesson is carefully structured to introduce concepts in a logical sequence, using visual aids and real-world examples that make abstract math ideas concrete. The content is continuously reviewed and refined based on how students perform, ensuring explanations are clear and effective for learners at every level.
Can my child skip ahead to harder topics?
Yes, but with guardrails. Qmon's placement test may advance your child past topics they already know. Within the app, mastery gates ensure your child has a solid foundation before tackling more advanced material. Parents can also assign specific topics from the parent dashboard if they want their child to focus on particular areas. This balance lets motivated learners move quickly without skipping essential building blocks.
Does Qmon align with school curriculum standards?
Qmon's 168 topics cover the core math skills taught in schools from kindergarten through 12th grade, including arithmetic, fractions, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. While the app follows a mastery-based progression rather than mapping to a specific state standard, the content covers the same concepts your child encounters in school. Many parents use Qmon as a supplement to reinforce what their child is learning in class.
How is Qmon different from just watching YouTube math videos?
YouTube videos are passive. Your child watches, but there is no way to know if they actually understood the material. Qmon is an active learning system where your child works through problems, gets immediate feedback from Archie, and must demonstrate mastery before advancing. The Apple Pencil canvas lets them show their work step by step. Plus, the parent dashboard gives you real data on what your child has mastered and where they are struggling.

vs Competitors

How is Qmon different from Kumon?
Kumon uses repetitive paper worksheets and requires weekly visits to a learning center, which can cost $150 or more per month per subject. Qmon delivers a similar mastery-based approach but with an AI tutor that adapts in real time, instant feedback on every problem, and the convenience of learning at home on an iPad. Core starts at $9.99 per month for one student, and Family supports up to 5 student profiles.
Is Qmon better than IXL for math practice?
IXL is a solid practice tool, but it focuses on drill-style exercises without structured teaching. Qmon's Learn, Practice, Master method means your child gets a full lesson with visual explanations from Archie before practicing. Qmon also provides Apple Pencil support for showing work, gamification with XP and achievements to keep kids motivated, and a parent dashboard with diagnostic reports that go beyond simple scores.
How does Qmon compare to Khan Academy?
Khan Academy offers free video lessons across many subjects, but math instruction is primarily video-based and self-directed. Qmon is purpose-built exclusively for math with an interactive AI tutor that guides your child through each problem, adapts to their pace, and requires demonstrated mastery before moving on. Qmon's parent dashboard also gives you tools Khan Academy does not offer, like assigning homework, printing worksheets, and viewing diagnostic reports.
Why choose Qmon over a private math tutor?
A private math tutor typically costs $40 to $100 per hour for one or two sessions a week. Qmon gives your child unlimited access to Archie, an AI tutor available 24/7, for $9.99 per month. Archie adapts to your child's level, explains mistakes step by step, and covers 168 topics from counting to calculus. While a human tutor has its place for advanced or specialized needs, Qmon provides consistent daily practice and structured progression at a fraction of the cost.
Is Qmon a replacement for homework?
Qmon is designed to complement your child's schoolwork, not replace it. Parents can use the dashboard to assign specific topics that align with what their child is studying in class, effectively turning Qmon into targeted homework practice. Teachers and parents have found that the structured Learn, Practice, Master approach reinforces classroom learning and helps fill gaps that homework alone may not address.

Parents

How do I track my child's progress?
The Qmon parent dashboard gives you a detailed view of your child's learning journey. You can see which topics they have mastered, how much time they are spending in the app, their accuracy rates, XP earned, and current streak. Diagnostic reports highlight specific strengths and areas that need attention, so you always know exactly where your child stands and what they should focus on next.
Can I assign specific topics as homework?
Yes, the parent dashboard lets you assign any of the 168 math topics directly to your child's account. Assigned topics appear as priority tasks in your child's app, making it easy to align Qmon practice with what they are learning in school. You can assign topics to any or all of your linked children, and track completion from your dashboard.
Can I print worksheets for offline practice?
Yes, Qmon lets parents generate and print math worksheets directly from the parent dashboard. You can select specific topics and difficulty levels to create customized practice sheets for your child. This is great for screen-free practice time, car rides, or supplementing Qmon's digital lessons with pencil-and-paper work. Each worksheet is generated with unique problems so your child gets fresh practice every time.
Can I link multiple children to one parent account?
Yes, Qmon supports linked student profiles. You can link multiple students to a single parent account using your unique family code. Each student gets their own learner profile with independent progress tracking, placement level, XP, achievements, and daily goals. You can view and manage all linked students from one parent dashboard with a Family subscription.
What is a family code and how does it work?
A family code is a unique code in the format QM-XXXX that is generated when you create a parent account. A student enters this code during sign-up to link their learner profile to your parent dashboard. This is how Qmon connects students to parents without requiring the student to use a parent's Apple ID. You can find your family code anytime in the parent settings screen.
Can I see what mistakes my child is making?
Yes, the parent dashboard includes diagnostic reports that show exactly which problem types your child is getting wrong, how long they are spending on each question, and whether they are improving over time. This data helps you identify patterns, like if your child consistently struggles with word problems or makes errors with fractions, so you can provide targeted support or assign focused practice.

About Archie

Who is Archie?
Archie is Qmon's friendly AI owl tutor who guides your child through every math lesson. Archie introduces new concepts with clear explanations and visual aids, provides hints during practice, celebrates correct answers, and gently explains mistakes when they happen. Archie is designed to feel like a patient, encouraging tutor who is always available and never gets frustrated, making math feel approachable for kids of all ages.
How does Archie adapt to my child's level?
Archie uses Qmon's adaptive engine to tailor instruction to your child's current ability. The system tracks accuracy, response time, and consistency across every problem. If your child is breezing through material, Archie picks up the pace and introduces more challenging problems. If your child is struggling, Archie slows down, offers additional visual aids, and provides more guided practice before moving on.
Does Archie explain mistakes or just mark answers wrong?
Archie never just marks an answer wrong and moves on. When your child makes a mistake, Archie provides a step-by-step explanation of where they went wrong and how to approach the problem correctly. Visual aids and worked examples help make the correction concrete. This teaching approach turns every mistake into a learning moment rather than a source of frustration.
Can my child ask Archie questions?
Archie proactively guides your child through each lesson and practice problem, offering hints and explanations at key moments. While Archie does not accept free-form typed questions like a chatbot, the Learn, Practice, Master structure ensures that explanations, hints, and corrections are delivered exactly when your child needs them. Archie is designed to anticipate confusion and address it before your child gets stuck.
Is Archie a real AI or just scripted responses?
Archie is powered by a real adaptive engine that responds to your child's performance in real time. The hints, explanations, and pacing are not pre-recorded scripts that play the same way for every student. Archie adjusts what it says and when based on how your child is doing, which problems they get right or wrong, and how quickly they are progressing through each topic.
Does Archie make learning feel like a game?
Yes, Archie is at the center of Qmon's gamification system. Your child earns XP for completing problems, levels up as they master topics, and unlocks 23 different achievements for milestones like first perfect score and longest streak. Archie celebrates successes with animations, encourages daily challenges, and tracks streaks to keep your child coming back. The goal is to make math practice something kids look forward to, not dread.

Privacy & Safety

Is Qmon safe for children under 13?
Yes, Qmon is built from the ground up to be safe for children of all ages, including those under 13. The app contains no third-party ads, no social features, and no user-generated content. Children interact with Archie and their math lessons. Parent accounts are required to manage child profiles, ensuring an adult is always in control of the learning environment.
How does Qmon handle children's privacy?
Qmon is built with child-specific privacy protections for students under 13. We collect only the minimum data necessary for the app to function, require a parent or guardian review and acknowledgment step during child-account setup, and never sell or share children's personal information with third parties.
Does Qmon show ads or track my child?
No. Qmon is completely ad-free and does not use any third-party advertising or behavioral tracking. There are no banner ads, video ads, or sponsored content anywhere in the app. The only data Qmon collects is your child's learning progress, which is used exclusively to power the adaptive engine and parent dashboard. We believe children's attention should be on learning, not ads.
Where is my child's learning data stored?
Your child's learning data is stored on-device for the in-app experience and synced securely using Google Cloud Platform infrastructure with Firebase Authentication for account security. Data is encrypted both in transit and at rest. Only you as the parent can access your child's learning data through the parent dashboard. Qmon is operated by Creme Holdings LLC.
